Charlotte is co-Creative Director and Lead Puppeteer at Monkey Trousers Theatre. Her performance career began in London on the New Act circuit for stand-up comedians. Moving into sketch comedy and sitcom writing, she was then shortlisted in the 1997 Channel Four Sitcom Writing Competition.
Since moving to Bristol, she has trained with Bristol University Drama department (The Actor’s Workshop); Gary Owsten (Accents and Dialects); Holly Stoppit Workshops (Clowning and Fooling); Dominique Fester (Physical Theatre); The Bristol Improv Theatre (Improvisation); Circomedia (Acrobatics).
Charlotte’s passion for puppetry began when she was challenged by a friend to stage a puppet show for her wedding reception. Having successfully ‘Muppetized’ the bride and groom she continued to train in puppetry fabrication and performance with Marc Parrett (Bath Puppet Workshop); Chris Pirie (Green Ginger) and Toby & Wendy Froud (The Dark Crystal). Charlotte is also an Associate Artist at Puppet Place.
As well as performing regularly with Monkey Trousers Theatre, Charlotte also provides puppetry training and direction for outside companies (We The Curious planetarium presenters, The West Acting Workshop, Bristol Improv Theatre, Bristol Academy of Drama).
