PUPPETRY IN PERFORMANCE

A day workshop for children aged between 7 and 12 years old in glove puppetry fabrication and performance.

Gotalot and Sydney

Mr Gotalot and our lead puppeteer, Charlotte Whitten

 Children will make their own puppet and then learn how to bring it to life. They will then show their new found puppetry skills to parents in a short performance and can take their puppet home to make puppet shows of their own.

Make your own hand puppet out of fabric, foam and all sorts using traditional puppetry techniques as seen in The Muppets and The Furchester Hotel. Learn lip syncing, eye contact and basic body language techniques to show off in your final performance.

Pre-booking will be essential for this workshop as places are limited. Cost is £40 per child(Booking fee applies, price includes all materials for puppet making).

Participants must bring a packed lunch (nut free). Final performance will start at 4.00pm.

The workshop will be run by our very own lead puppeteer, Charlotte Whitten and Bristol Academy of Drama (BAD) artistic director, Claire Vincent.

Charlotte has been making and performing puppets for Monkey Trousers Theatre since April 2015. She has trained in puppetry fabrication and performance with Marc Parrett (Bath Puppet Workshop), Chris Pirie (Green Ginger) and Wendy Froud (She made Yoda!!)

Claire is  a LAMDA teacher and an award winning actress who has a passion for introducing the power of theatre to young people of all ages. BAD is a children’s drama school offering drama classes, workshops and holiday clubs for children who want to learn about and engage in theatre and performance in its many forms from puppetry to shadow theatre and mask work to physical theatre.
